ENCINASOLA

The tradition names Encinasola as arena of the actions of the lusitanisian shepherd Viriato that fought heroically against the Romans. There is not any doubt that the city populated these; a proof for this is a Roman stone blackboard with inscriptions of the Emperor Augustus that is stored in the church.

The Defence bastion San Felipe and San Juan (16 Century) owe their names to the kings Felipe II and his brother Juan of Austria. Not least, the religious architecture is to be named: the church San Andrés (16 Century) with a baroque altarpiece and their goldsmith performances or the church San Sebastián, in which a picture of the virgin de Gracia from the 16. Century is admired.
