Gibraleón   GIBRALEÒN
 

Gibraleón lies between the coast and la Sierra, in a privileged area of Huelva of the Tierra Llana (flattening earth), the Río Odiel draws near. The mild climate and much sun have an effect very positively on the agriculture, and vines leave here, olives, sunflowers and citrus fruits very well thrive. In the middle ages, to times of the Roman and Arabic reign, Gibraleón was a strategically important place and carried the name Olintigi in the III century.

   
   

At the moment, the approximately 13.000 inhabitants of Olonteses were named, and profited from the connections of the Romans to the city Italica. To Muslim time the village then the name of Yabal Aluyun and was baptized on the names Gibraleón only after the conquest of Alfonso X el Sabio. Alfonso X el Sabio handed over the ago - manages at his grandson Alfonso de la Cerda. Juan de la Cerda organized the first livestock exhibition in the village that takes place since then every year in October, in the year 1323.
