As the name already says, Rosal de la Frontera is at the border of Spain and Portugal. (Border means Frontera). Since short, its population is at increasing, however since the time of the Middle ages it always served as place for the hibernation of the livestock herds of the Mestas, (interpretation [union of herd owners and cattlemen] ).
